TEXAS THEATRE

Built in 1931 and initially operated by Howard Hughes’ Robb Rowley theater chain, the Texas Theatre’s history includes some of the most famous American icons of all time, including the infamous Lee Harvey Oswald. After its long story paused in the mid 90’s, the Texas Theatre hadn’t been used until it was re-branded and relaunched, initially as a series of free events and special uses curated by Reimer for the Oak Cliff Foundation. In 2010 the formation of Aviation Cinemas gave new life to what most considered a losing proposition and has gone on to become the keystone symbol of culture in Dallas. Happily, its future is now protected by historic landmark status as well as the owner-operators who helm Aviation Cinemas.
